The Daily Grail Questionnaire with Yuki Zhao

Part Proust, Part Vogue's 73 Questions, and Part Colbert Questionnaire, Toronto-based fashion blogger, Yuki Zhao answers The Daily Grail Questionnaire.

What’s your favorite time of day?

Definitely late at night, by myself. After the hectic day, I like to sip on some whiskey by the fireplace just to relax, doing nothing. If a lot has happened in a day, I like to kind of review the whole day in my head and make some plans for tomorrow.

Last meal: where, what, and with who?

In LA, at Wally's eating caviar drinking the finest Burgundy red with my close friends and family.

What is your greatest extravagance?

This one time, I did extremely well in the stock market, I spent 300k on a 7 day trip with my family, blew it out. One of the nights we opened all the bottles of premier cru classés. Now I think about it, we could have the same amount of fun for 30k.

Song on repeat?

Lately I have been listening to Hotel Lobby by Quavo and Takeoff. This line always puts me into a travel mood. “Let's get it. Hop off a sixteen passenger. This a G5, no, this not a Challenger (big one)”

What is your most treasured possession?

Two things, it’s either freedom, freedom to choose, to say no to the things I don’t like doing. Then there is my courage, the courage to start it all over again.

Best accessory?

My daily watch is a Patek Philippe 7118/1A, it is a 35mm Ladies Nautilus with Grey Dial. It literally goes with everything.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

I love myself so much so when someone else says something horrible to me, I don’t believe them and also I don’t care.

Best action movie?

It might sound cliche, but I really enjoyed watching the Rush Hour series, such a classic action franchise, and apparently they’re shooting a new one, so I really hope it comes out soon as that would be incredible.

Dream watch?

I have to go with the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5719/10G in White Gold Baguette diamonds. It’s a very unique timepiece, I would say it’s more of a jewelry than a watch.

What is your motto?

The secret of getting ahead is getting started and never looking back.

Style icon?

For fashion inspiration, I look up to Rosie HW, her style is divine, so effortless chic. For home interiors, I absolutely love Kelly Wearstler’s works, she has the ability to transform any space into something modern and artsy.

What do you want to be remembered for?

I would like people to remember that I’m a kind and honest person, also an optimistic person who will always bring positive energy to the room. I don’t give up on things easily, I’m fearless when coming after my goals. For my friends and family, I would like them to remember the best memories we have spent together, because life is short, we only live through those moments.
